Bloglines to be bought by InterActiveCorp?
Ok, not really, but it seems that InterActivecorp, who own Hotwire.com, Expedia, match.com, Citysearch, LendingTree and more … will buy Ask Jeeves for close to $2 billion. As Ask Jeeves has just bought Bloglines, not Bloglines belongs to InterActiveCorp, unless they have some clause that they can get out again which I doubt. InterActiveCorp does seem to be a bad mother of a company though.
Update: John wrote up his thoughts and he includes an interview with Barry Diller, Chairman and CEO of IAC. Very nice post and some very nice quotes especially this one about the border between the web and traditional media getting blurry:
_Yes. There’s no question but that the Internet is going to change the
way entertainment products are distributed. The first popular piece of
this is the digital video recorder. That’s a profound change. _**_It proves
that the 500-channel universe was interim technology._**
Big… big … big … true. Point. Done. Thank you. Please carry on.
