Skype for MacOS X

Now that I am home, I swiftly downloaded Skype for MacOS X to find out a) that it is very nice, b) that is doesn’t take over the contacts I have on the windows box at work, c) that search somehow doesn’t fully work or all my contact are hidden somehow. But it seems to be working and once again I prefer it to the windows version. My nickname is othylmann if you want to be able to start a chat some time in the future. I am looking forward to see how this develops. What is very nice I have to say is that I see tons of bloggers popping up say “Yay! Finally, a MacOS X Version of Skype. Downloading now.” This proves once again that MacOS X is extremely popular among bloggers. Great crowd to be with :)

Anti-Bush Moblogging

Nice post by Mario with some links to different sites that are a quasi group moblog of the happenings around the meeting fo the republican party in New York. Very nice indeed. This is something that journalists will hardly be able to capture because it’s just hundreds of personal shots, ranging from huge groups, posters to babies with “Bush makes me cry” t-shirts.

Update: Karen has mailed me and she seems to be the person behind the t-shirt. She sent me her url: bushmakesmecry.com where she sells the shirts and the picture of the baby is awfully similar. As she has provided phone number and eMail I am resonably certain that the moblog post and the site are from the same person and in any case, I thinks it’s a cool shirt.

The new Apple iMac G5

Apple just has a hand with design. While the new Apple - iMac G5 isn’t as interesting as the iMac G4 on the first look, the idea is very striking and it’s a great concept. I mean, you just buy the box, with internal bluetooth and nocat of course, and you are done. Put it on your desk, attach the cable. Go. Very cool indeed. And it is a thing of beauty. I still want the Powerbook though ;)

To all Friendster Users

I never ever signed up for Friendster. I don’t know why. Especially because now I have LinkedIn and OpenBC accounts (and an Orkut account which I hardly use). But anyway. Friendster fired Joyce Park because of her blogging. As a blogger, Joyce talked about the switch to PHP for Friendster, got Slashdotted and in general got a good amount of attention. But she really didn’t reveal anything secret.

Now the bloggers fight back. Oh the fun :) Jeremy Zawodny started it and is now asking everyone to cancel their Friendster Accounts (see here) with the reason: “Fireing employees for blogging”. Now go cancel your account :)

DEMOletter blog

Heiko alerted me that DEMOletter, the newsletter for the DEMO conference, now has a blog right here where you can follow all the greatest stuff happening around the conference and the companies attending or having attended it or technology space in general. Based on the current stories, this will be a very good read.
