Google Has a new Look

I just went to Google and what do I see? A new look? Well not really a new look but a few enhancements of the old look. For one, you can now see all the services they have including Google Answers and Blogger, which is about time! Google could almost be called a portal. All they need to do is integrate Orkut and provide a login on the frontpage. I wonder if they will launch a new domain for that. Because Google is search, but what about portal.google.com? :) They also now have a big link to the Google Advertiser Programs right on the front page now.
Update: They also now have DomainPark. Do you have unused domains that have 750k Impressions per month? Park them with DomainPark and earn money ;)

Corporate Blogging

It’s really starting to feel like Microsoft has not only understood the blogging thing, but also has a pretty interesting culture inside the corporation. One would imagine that starting a blog about recruitment for technical positions inside Microsoft would be a new move and would at least be known and checked out by the some VP or something similar. Seems like it wasn’t. This is obvious from this post from the Technical Positions @ Microsoft blog, which also links to an interesting post on Robert Scoble’s blog Re a reply by a VP to one of his posts.

ongoing on OpenOffice

So why is this under a blogging heading? Because of the idea to put a “Blog this” button into OpenOffice. Lots of people write their stuff in Word processors, so this might be interest. The the OpenOffice post on ongoing for more.

Interest Risk Management Instruments

There are some special instruments for interest risk control, and the ones discussed here are forward rate agreements (FRAs), interest rate futures and swaps. All these are derivatives, meaning that their price movements is derived from the movement in an underlying asset. FRAs are over-the-counter (OTC) deals while futures contracts are exchange-traded. The choice between OTC and exchange-traded derivates involves the decision of convenience against cost as OTCs can be customized to your liking, paying an extra for the privilege.

Too much cash

There is too much cash out there and VCs don’t know where to put it, even worse, there is no way they can find anything to put all that cash. So what will be found next? ;) Check out the Wired story: The Roots of Bust 2.0 for more.

No marriages at all then

Well that’s a good decision finally from a US county. Benton county (Oregon) has, due to the continued discussion about whether gay marriages should be legal, banned all marriages. All of them. The last marriage license was issued tuesday. “It may seem odd, but we need to treat everyone in our county equally,” county commissioner Linda Modrell told Reuters. (source)

The Life of Brian is back

It seems that the Monty Python’s film The Life of Brain, is back in the cinemas, running under the slogan: Mel or Monty. It is pitched against The Passion of Christ. Very good. The life of brian rocks, amazing film. (source)

Against all Enemies

Damn! I just looked at Technorati’s BookTalk and actually wanted to get Richard Clarke’s Against all Enemies, which appeared on Monday and well… the 300.000 copies were sold out in 2 days and now it is not available on Amazon.de and stupidly enough I can’t even put it on my wishlist. Bad Amazon, Bad Amazon! Now I need to post about it to remember ;)

Welcome a new blogger

I did it again, this time reintroducing somebody to blogging. Tao actually blogged on LiveJournal several years back but as he says himself, hasn’t been “in on” the entire blogging thing yet, even though it feels like he should be. Being one of the most interesting guys I know, with lots of new ideas in technology, I am happy to see him back in blogging! He always seem to be catching something new going on out there like Zaplets. So check out TaoSpace and feed your aggregator. Oh, and

Best Spam Ever

I just got a spam which when opened in the preview window, simply opened a browser window to a Google Search limited to the site the spam was about. So you had all their top topics plus a few adwords. Very interesting spam indeed.
