Blair supports Schroeder

As some of you might know, the german chancelor Schröder has recently said that he is 100% against a war against Irak at this time and that Germany would not support the war. This is more or less it. It mostly focusses on the fact that the US should not do anything without the support by the UN. Also known should be that Blair (UK) is very much for the strike and behind the US. Now Blair said that he fully supports Schröder in his view and thinks it is good that he said it and many of the questions raised are very valid. He also thinks that in the end, everybody will pull on one string. Very nice.

Wikipedia seems like the place to find … emm… it. The answer. The question. The idea. The enlightenment. You name it. Nice to remember.

Polyphony could drive you nuts

(Originally published on infoSync) Back in the day, your phone would ring, and the tone would be so annoying that you just had to notice it and pick up the phone. That’s how it went, and for many, that’s how it was supposed to be. There were many people out there who changed their ring tones frequently to have one that fit their style – but whichever one they chose, a phone sounded like a phone.

Danger lurks around the corner

(Originally published on infoSync) Some months ago, when I visited Danger.com, the site still had a flash animation explaining that Danger was just arround the corner – and it still is. That is, it’s not here yet, but based on reports trickling in, Danger is peeking around that corner and readying itself to take center stage.

About a war on Iraq

This might be interesting to some:

There is a very nice discussion going on in one of the Motley Fool forums at the moment about the good and bad sides of a strike. Should it or should it not happen. Interesthing to think about. The article above is a very good read indeed and is written by:

The Buzz

This might be a fun page to check out from time to time:

http://buzz.yahoo.com/

It’s the yahoo search engine ranking.
On a side note, today is my last day before going to work 5 days a week for 6 months … hmmm… I am actually looking really forward to it though as the job seems to be really fun. We will see tomorrow. Now going out with a few friends, with one of whom having run is own restaurant/coffee shop for a week now. Let’s see how he is feeling :)

Beer and Brains

I just read this on the TMF boards…
This is the beauty of science; the ability to explain natural phenomenon…
I have not seen anyone explain this as well as Cliff Clavin, on the sitcom Cheers. One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm. And here’s how it went:
“Well ya see Norm, it’s like this… A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers.”

Employment question

I just got this and thought I’d translate it to english.
The question is the following:
You are driving in your car late at night with a storm outside. You are passing a bus stop and see three people waiting.
1. An old lady, who looks as if she would soon die.
2. An friend who saved your life once.
3. The girl/guy of your dreams
Your dilemma. You have a two seating roadster and can only take one person. You can also not come back to the station once you left.
Who will you take.
This was used for a work test for stock market brokers it seems. Once you thought about it, read on.
The one that got the job (amongst 200 people) chose this:
“I would give the guy that saved my life the car and ask him to take the old lady to the hospital. Then I would wait for the bus with the girl of my dreams.”
The moral is that we need to think out of the box, as they say.

Wahlomat

I actually thought about something like this for some time and now somebody did it. http://www.wahlomat.de will tell you which party you should vote for after answering some questions. Not bad actually and it turns out rather fitting towards what I think I should be voting.
